> The blog presents a thought provoking question: what if we don't actually need a full-blown database, and instead we only care about things like unique constraints, transactions, indices, and history tables.
This sound like: what if we dont actually need a table and instead we only care about four legs and a wooden plate.
I do not have high hopes. It's been 10 years of constant NMS updates but the game still has nothing that keeps me hooked. Everything feels insignificant to me, every interaction is like the one before and the one that comes next. They added stuff to the game, but it just feels like more of the same. Light No Fire will surely be just more of the same.
Obviously, phone owners should be able to set these limits and not have them dictated by a corporation.
But I still want to hope that this could be a first step to remind developers to build efficient and optimised apps.
Giving users a way to limit memory consumption per app won't solve this, it can only be solved by limiting it on the grand scale and that will never happen, if you give people only the means but no defsults. I think, the most sensible way would be to set default limits but ultimately the phone owner decide which limits to set.
