Nowhere in Article II of the Constitution does it say that. It’s as false as the notion that a corporation must maximize return to shareholders as a matter of law.
At most, the Article requires the President to take an oath of office to protect and defend the Constitution, but that’s a far cry from requiring he do everything possible to make the USA the most profitable country in the world.
Housing, food, water, Internet access, cell phones... all more or less essential goods in the modern world. How dare anyone expect to be paid for them?
Food, water distribution, internet, building construction are all things people produce and must be paid for to exist and out of fairness. Land ownership is and always has been an arbitrary claim inevitably traceable to a murdered Indian or the equivalent on other continents.
If it was never okay to as questions, then any discussion ever could be shut down with "personal belief". If some beliefs can be examined and others are deemed too sensitive, then eventually the untouchable beliefs multiply and take over all discussions.
Beliefs are meant to be examined and evaluated, not coddled.
I didn't say you had to coddle someone, but it's equally clear you asked the question with the intent of being a dick, not to actually engage with the parent poster. "Haha, look how superior my intellect is, did you even think about water?!" is materially different than exploring and questioning someone's belief.
Well, that seems a little strong. The measure used in the US is one that I don't think is used in any other democracy. Every non-American I've talked with about this believes that national popular vote is definitely the number that matters.
