"The world is awful" highlights a problem that needs solving, a concrete goal
"The world is better" tells you that something is working, which you can build on top of or improve
"The world can be better" gives a proposal for a course of action
While the 3rd might seem like the most useful, the 1st is extremely important too, because if the proposal fails then you need to fall back to thinking about the problem. The 2nd is important for both motivation, and also for promoting incremental progress
> see a stabilized crypto that could act as an amazing tool for people in poor countries to lift themselves out of poverty
Would you mind explaining to me, or linking to some resource you find convincing, how crypto would succeed in this goal? (or even which organisation or coin has this as a goal)
Hi, thanks for the offer, I caved and provided Dropbox support with a copy of my passport and that seemed to be enough to resolve the issue (I hope, I really really hope).
If you work at Dropbox I think it could still be useful to raise some of the concerns mentioned here with whoever is the product owner of this feature.
Does the law also state that you can't fix the date afterwards, or that once entered verification is required? It's a paid account, they've already got my credit card details. And how does it make sense that I was born 2 weeks ago?
I don't know, I felt really stupid when I entered the wrong year but since then I've grown increasingly frustrated by how poorly this feature has been implemented.
I don't think this holds true as generally as might seem obvious. Personally I become much more productive and much more creative when I have serious pressure on me. I think art history also speaks to this if you think about all the artists who did their best work (or all their work) under very difficult conditions such as poverty, abuse or simply having been pressed for time.
Prot is one of the most well spoken, humble, deliberate and wholesome people I've ever come across. Absolutely crazy to think that he came to Emacs and Lisp without any technical background and just started contributing.
I was told they are self-described Marxists. I am not an expert in the finer points of communist philosophy but I assume this means they believed in the labor theory of value and the class struggle.
