How much energy does a data center consume? A European law tailored to Big Tech makes it impossible to know.

Start of summer.. June 21st? Is this statement true for US? Another thing to put in mind, besides Fahrenheit, yards, lbs.. at least time (besides 12 hour clock) seem to conform with the rest of the world...

Yes, in the US seasons are aligned with equinoxes and solstices. I.e. summer starts at the Summer Solstice and ends at the Autumnal Equinox.

How does it work where you are from? I'm from Spain and was taught the same

It amazes me that 2026 corporations still choose MS Windows as their base for operations.. together with the Mordor 365 as the mail platform.

For quite many years I saw EU as something mostly good. Since ten years back I'm hesitating. Enforcements when it comes to cars (like the (EU) 2018/858) where the manufacturers are forced to implement "safety" features that customers don't want/need and "environmental" features (such as AD blue) that makes worse products. Regulations that perhaps were good on paper, but that will backlash on manufacturers and consumers (as the cars since then became way more expensive).

Regulations on sorting out textile (such as worn underwear, textile diapers) created huge issues in Sweden to take care of the textile waste to a big surprise for the politicians..

I believe we (the citizens of EU) deserve better

The outcome of all this just a couple of months away, feels very hard to predict.

I saw paddles and thought, finally someone that incorporated a 2-4 speed transmission in order to put some form of soul in EV. But no.

If I understand you correctly, there is a cool video on youtube that shows off a concept AE86 EV conversion that matches the driving experience of the original.

The 600hp (Kia!) EV6 GT has paddles too. Been trying to figure out how to repurpose them.

To no big surprise. Why would the conversations take place with minutes/hours between replies? That alone raised direct concerns and disbelief to me during my couple of clicks to check what the buzz was about.

agent Smith, the one that don't care at all about conforming to POSIX?

"In fact, the way I see things the Linux API has been taking the role of the POSIX API and Linux is the focal point of all Free Software development. Due to that I can only recommend developers to try to hack with only Linux in mind and experience the freedom and the opportunities this offers you. So, get yourself a copy of The Linux Programming Interface, ignore everything it says about POSIX compatibility and hack away your amazing Linux software. It's quite relieving!" -- https://archive.fosdem.org/2011/interview/lennart-poettering...

Music Assistant (https://github.com/music-assistant) is really onto something good, and it looks like they are working towards native clients. Multi room, streaming, lyrics, DSP, catalogue of local media.

I came to say this too. It was super easy to get sendspin working as a systemd service on my bazzite based jellyfin media player computers hooked to my tvs and it works decently well. If I can figure out how to get bazzite to output audio on one hdmi port and video on the other so I can split the audio to my speaker system even when the tv is off it would basically be perfect.

Once the esp32 based stuff matures and people start selling competitively priced enclosure/speaker/esp32 combos in the sonos play 1- play 5 style it's going to be amazing I think.

Is this the end of secure communication within EU?
