IMO this doesn't effect small business with revenue as much as it hurts their spending of marketing with facebook there are other marketing avenues that can be used by small businesses
There's an argument to be made though that hyper-targeting helps niche or smaller businesses more than a P&G who has to run a larger campaign so the IRR could drop more for smaller businesses than a large company on Facebook specifically?
The real argument here, that someone else made, is that if we want to help small businesses, Facebook needs to go. In the past small businesses would just use other small, local business, to advertise.
Facebook & co are just destroying all these small businesses (local newspapers, local magazines, billboard companies, local news websites, whatever).
I'm not arguing for actual newspapers. But Facebook and Reddit and other such aggregators are killing even local forums. They're sucking the local monetization into a US based black hole (because they then proceed to dodge taxes in the US).
Space is controlled by nations and their military so I don't see why there will not be conflicts and escalations. Only way to prevent war in space is humans not going to space.
It's not per see controlled. Once we get strong enough drives, then space is too big to be effectively controlled by anyone. Some planets or objects may, but many others won't be.
The war in orbit though, that will likely happen sooner rather than later.
don't know about swift but any JVM based language will have more productivity in IDE than vim. I have tried really hard to use vim for java and the trouble is not worth it. But for everything else vim is your guy.
My high school system used to convert those to zeroes, just FYI. Anything that was nonnumeric and not a fixed set of "aliases" (for example, "pass" might mean 100% if the teacher set it up that way) became a zero.
How about using an integer where an integer is needed and false where no grade has been produced, with the teacher and student UI showing 'Not yet graded [x]' rather than using magic numbers?
