I hate this line of reasoning so much. It completely ignores how trust works. As an organisation, you cannot simultaneously build a reputation for worthless anti-journalistic click bait, and serious real journalism at the same time. It would be as if Facebook launched some pro-privacy NGO and then people like you went around saying everybody should absolutely take it seriously.


To be far this is every news agency since the 1970's. It's just been scaled and personalized.


And yet this reasoning works for every newspaper with an editorial/opinion section: The opinion and editorial columns are not held to the same standard as the rest of the paper.
