I wonder the ROI behind this. I mean it's server maintenance cost VS PR image cost.

Ok, servers are expensive, but Ubisoft manage to recover after some reputation hits (and Blizzard distracting everyone being the main enemy in the public eye for a few months) and then, they do this.

And let's not get started with the potential risk of lawsuits (Buy a single player DLC game, but then you can not play it because someone turn off a switch?).


Is it really that expensive to keep some servers running that already exist? Its not like they're scaling up with self owned hardware
