I discovered this app about a week ago. And I would not say useful. It’s crappy. I just wanted to discover new movies, make a list of what I want to watch and keep a record of what I’ve watched.
1. The watchlist is hidden in the user profile icon on the bottom left. It actually took me a while to find it.
2. When I first setup the app I was asked to rate movies or mark as already watched. Where is this list? It’s not the diary which is what I would expect. A diary of what I’ve watched and the ratings I’ve given, but my diary is empty.
3. I had to create an account to use this app.
4. Still has ads. Need to pay $20 a year to remove ads!
5. Don’t understand the difference between reviews, lists and journal tab.
6. Watching a trailer requires me to leave the app to go to YouTube.
7. On the Home Screen I cannot remove movies I don’t care to see. For example I don’t care to see horror or gory posters.
8. To add a movie to the watchlist I have to tap the 3 dot menu button then tap watchlist. Plenty of wasted space on the movie screen.
9. Star ratings don’t make sense. Everyone has different tastes. And what is the difference between 4 or 5 stars. Everyone quantifies each star differently. Thumbs up and down with collaborative filtering is a better approach. I would only care what people with similar tastes to me think about a movie.
10. The text box for the description of the movie is to short and cuts off. Why? So there is room for the ad. Really crappy.
11. They are sourcing their data for movies from https://www.themoviedb.org/ and charging $20-$50 a year to access this data without ads.
