I am not sure that this works very well. I put in "BibleProject" and "Alastair's Adversaria" which are both Christian Theology podcasts, and I got back "Erotic Short Stories: Read by Mia Hart" as the top result which... I just doubt that's a similar podcast.

I’m getting really tired of this “launch an AI product with no QA and have users point out your mistakes” approach. It’s very clear that this site doesn’t work. Anyone who uses it for 2 seconds can see it. Why launch it right now?

I really enjoy MRKT Call from Risk Reversal Media. They also repost their MRKT Call podcasts into their „on the tape“ podcast podcast. But when you enter one of those two, it doesn’t show the other one.

To echo others: I love the concept for this, but I do not think the current implementation is successful. I put in The Lowe Post (a fairly popular ESPN basketball podcast) and got:

1. another basketball podcast (nice!)

2. a podcast about outdoor camping

3. a podcast about Ohio State University sports

OP: what I'd _really_ love in this vein is a way to go from "here's a podcast I like and listen to, give me a list of podcasts in which the host or guests of the host also appear." I suspect that may be a difficult set of structured data to assemble, but I think it'd be very valuable.

Apple Podcasts is the only platform I know of that provides this sort of functionality and support even there is hit & miss.

It worked well for me. I put in three podcasts that I listen to, and the first two results are two more podcasts that I listen to. There were a lot of my favourites in the whole list. Maybe I'm predictable?

Nice work, I put in my favourite podcast and did get some really good suggestions , granted there were some (a few) results that weren't very similar.

It feels like something that could be a part of a listening app.

Just to counter a possible bias of people pointing out only weird results: I looked for podcasts like "conversations with tyler" and got other podcasts produced by the mercatus center, other podcasts about economics, other wide-ranging podcasts. Nothing weird, at least among those I recognized. I added "lunar society" and I discovered a podcast about design called 99% Invisible, which looks interesting.

99PI is one of the best podcasts around. I enjoy almost all episodes.

I tried to do this a while back. People just don't want that kind of search in a standalone site, needs to be a feature on Apple Podcasts or Spotify.

Better question: What's a good podcast downloader these days?

All the ones which seem to be current and still function require an account, or have stupid limitations like only downloading files in batches.

I was so displeased last time I wanted to scrape a full podcast, I banged out something in powershell which I've been using since.

I've been on pocket casts for years and found very few reasons not to love it

Not sure about this. I searched for my own podcast, The GMRS Podcast, and the suggestions were all over the place. The Tournament Poker Podcast being number one followed by a Magic The Gathering podcast and some automotive stuff. Needs work.

I put in "Chapo Trap House" and "The Adam Friedland Show" and it recommended "The Rachel Maddow Show"????

How are you classifying them to get the similarity? It it a manual process or you are using the description of each podcast?

I typed in a game club let's play type podcast (Playthrough) and one of the results was a woodworking podcast...

It's asking me to subscribe and pay before I get any recommendations. Hard pass.
